Born in Champaign, Illinois, Karen Wiechert began her formal art training mid career, after sending her second son off to college.  She began building her art portfolio at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA and recently earned her BFA in drawing and painting at Laguna College of Art and Design in Laguna Beach, CA.  Familiar with many art styles and movements, she is most interested in representational painting.  Although she has experimented with watercolor and collage, her preferred medium is oil on canvas.  Her latest painting series explores her complicated relationship with her miniature dacshund, Link.    Karen is currently exhibiting at Mission Fine Art Gallery, 31760 Camino Capistrano, San Juan Capistrano, CA
